Administrative/Biographical History:
Dick & Dave’s Chophouse became known as D & D Bar & Café, and was operated in Anchorage
through 1964, when it was destroyed in the Good Friday Earthquake.
Scope and Content Description:
One black-and-white photograph of two men standing outside Dick & Dave’s Chophouse, with
signs for “J.J. Ross sign writer, painter and paperhanger” and “Launch Comet Jessie sails for
Knik”. In manuscript on verso: “Dave Mawhinney & Albert Dickinson started Feb. 1915 Ship
Creek, Alaska, Cook Inlet. First eating house, Anchorage, Alaska. Moved to 4th
/
St. after sale of
lots.”
