Administrative/Biographical History:
Walter Stanislaus Whitley, Sr., was born March 5, 1915 at Holy Cross, Alaska. He delivered mail
by dogsled in Holy Cross for many years and served as mayor. He also worked as a heavy
equipment operator for the State of Alaska and was a member of Engineers Local 302.

Scope and Content Description:
The collection consists of ten photographs and 8 pieces of ephemera pertaining to Walter
