Administrative/Biographical History:
Based primarily in California from the early 1880s onward, Richardson spent summers painting
in Alaska. He was born in Readfield, Maine, in 1855, and died in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in
1914.

One portrait photograph, 15.5 x 11”, blind-stamped “Sweet Studios.”

Acquisition and Appraisal Information
Donated by Len Braarud, Braarud Fine Art, in March 1989, along with a collection of
Richardson’s art. The items had been purchased by Braarud from the artist’s niece, Malena
Richardson Waterhouse, in 1988. Transferred from Collections to archives in March 2012.
