Name of creator(s): Olga Nelson Thompson, John E. Thwaites

Administrative/Biographical History:
Olga Nelson (1884-1980) and her father visited her cousin Arnold Nelson at Little Minook
Creek near Rampart, Alaska, in 1922. The Nelsons had come to the area in 1900 to participate
in the gold rush.

Olga Nelson met and married Emil Thompson in San Francisco, California; the couple
subsequently moved to Chicago, Illinois, where Olga died in 1980.

Scope and Content Description:
The collection consists of 54 black-and-white photographs of the Nelsons’ trip down the Yukon
and Tanana Rivers, as well as photos of interior Alaska taken between 1917 and 1925.
