Name of creator(s): Farrel Smith

Administrative/Biographical History:
Farrel Smith joined the Navy in 1941 or 1942, and served on Unalaska during World War II.
After his return to Oklahoma City after the war, he was murdered by a stranger whom he had
stopped to help with car trouble.

Scope and Content Description:
The collection consists of one photograph album containing 54 images, primarily from
Unalaska and Dutch Harbor in during World War II. The first 19 images are purchased
photographs of Alaskan scenes (2.5 x 3.5 in.), with captions. The remainder are snapshots,
taken presumably by Farrel Smith and fellow servicemen at Dutch Harbor. The album is bound
with an illustrated leather cover, “Greetings from Alaska, The Malamute Limited.”

Processing Notes
Three photos laid loose into album numbered in sequence where they were found. Numerous
empty pages and corners where family removed personal photographs prior to donation.
