Administrative/Biographical History:
The photographs were collected by Edward Shanley Addison, who was born in Baltimore, MD,
on January 10, 1879. He graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in 1902. In the same
year, he married Pearl Daphne Easton, with whom he had two children, Virginia Pearl and
Edward Spencer. In 1930, Addison retired to Annapolis, MD. He died on March 13, 1943, and
is buried in Arlington Cemetery.
