Three of 29 cassette tapes recorded about
1953 between Wesley Earl Dunkle, Henry
Watkins, and an unidentified interviewer.
Dunkle came into the country with the
Chisna Mining and Improvement Co. in
1899, and lived variously at Valdez,
Kennicott, and Anchorage and owned the
Golden Zone mining claim in the Broad
Pass area. The tapes are being reviewed
and summarized by geologist Chuck
Hawley. Accompanying the tapes are
eighteen postcards, a 1939 publication
about Anchorage, and two bowling
trophies.
