Scope and Contents

Photographs from the collection of Joseph R. Lingo and Margaret Lingo. Joseph
Lingo was the cousin of Archie Lingo, George Lingo’s father. He arrived around 1912.
Joseph first worked for the Kennecott Copper Mining Company in Kennecott and on
LaTouche Island. In 1915 he settled in Anchorage staying there till 1924. Around 1918
Joseph operated the Annie W. in Cook’s Inlet. Joseph lived for a time in Nenana around
1923.
The photographs in this collection consists of the First Annual Fair in Anchorage,
the “Ready Bullion Team”, Tent City, Annie W. (lighter), Chickaloon Roadhouse,
Chitina, Kennecott, Ketchikan, Kodiak, Petersburg, Nenana, Nushagak, Child’s Glacier,
LaPerouse Glacier, Mammoth Spring, Copper River Bridge, Sylvan Cove, Sidhaldon
Volcano, the Northwestern, the Mariposa, the Yukon, the Alaska, the Tanana, and the
S.S. Olympia. People in the collection include Archie and “Dolly” Lingo, Gene Lingo
Harwell, Guy and Roy Lingo, the McDonald children, Joseph R. Lingo, Margaret Lingo,
Mr. Royal, and Mrs. Coe. Photographers of the collection include E. A. Hegg, J oh n E .
Thwaites, J. P. Hubrick, J. R. Lingo, and Strye. The collection is arranged by number
