Scope and Contents

The Sheppard and Donnelley collection consists of both correspondence and
photographs. The photographs in the collection are primarily taken of subjects at
Wasilla, Valdez, and Knik. Photographs of Wasilla include photos of the Wilmoth
Company, Log Cabins, Poultry, the Railroad, a Lake, the Bogard, and pictures of Sledge
Dogs. Photographs of Valdez include photos of Copper River Draying Company, Valdez
Transportation Company, as well as sleds, dog teams, and an automobile on the Valdez to
Fairbanks trail. Pictures of Knik include photos of the 1914 Fourth of July races and of
the waterfront. Also in the collection are photos of 4^th
/ Avenue in Anchorage, the Union
Jack and Stars & Stripes, Cordova, and a W&S Freighting on the Yukon. Photographers
of the collection include O.G.H., W & S, Photocraft, Thomas Fotoshop, and P. (Phineas?)
S. Hunt.
Correspondence in the collection consists of banking papers of Sheppard and
Donnelley, including correspondence with W.T. Isted Company, bankbooks, and
receipts. Also in the collection are papers concerning the wreck of the barge Danaco No.
3, which wrecked on Yukon Flats and two letters from family members to Edgar Ryder in
