Robert Wheatley’s uncle was the original owner of the album.

The collection consists of 442 photographs and 112 negatives from around Alaska from 1906 to
1910. The subjects of the photographs include the Inside Passage, with Wrangell, Petersburg,
and Sitka featured, Prince William Sound, Seward and its environs, views of and along the
Alaska Central Railroad, Girdwood and Crow Creek Pass, Seldovia, and the Cook Inlet region,
including Hope, Sunrise, Homer, Turnagain Pass. Subjects also include the Matanuska Valley,
the Chickaloon Coal Field, Alaskan Volcanoes, Alaskan flora and fauna, and Western and
Aleutian Alaska, including Unalaska, Nushagak, Kodiak, Unga, and Chignik. People in the
collection include Anton Eide, Edie Boyle, E.E. Hale, Mrs. Revell, and John Goodell. Of
particular interest are images of Dena’ina people near Knik and Fish Creek, including Nakeeta,
Annie Patchell, Mr. and Mrs. Evan Vasilly (or Wassily), John Evan, and many children.

This collection was purchased by the Anchorage Museum in 1982.
