Haida, Tlingit, and Native Alaskan Peoples.

The collection consists of 36 photographs. Mrs. John Ohly’s mother (name unknown) traveled
to Alaska at the turn of the century through the Inside Passage shortly after 1907. The subjects of
the photos are of South Eastern Alaska, covering primarily Kasaan, Ketchikan, Metlakatla, Sitka,
and Skagway. The photographs include pictures of the Chilkat, Haida, Tlingit and Native
Alaskan Peoples. There are several water and landscape views as well, with the subjects being
that of steamships, houses and buildings, and views of Taku and Muir glaciers.

The pictures are in a brown cardstock wrapped album with Alaska in red ink on the front cover
along with the first photo “Sunset at Sitka”. The photographs are numbered 1-25 in the album.
Photographers of the collection include La Roche and Winter & Pond. The collection is housed
in one folder and an album, eleven of the photographs make up the album, the photos are in
number order.

This collection was donated to the Anchorage Museum by Mrs. John Ohly in 1977.
