Louis E. Boyen was a gold miner in Nome, Alaska in the 1900s.
The Boyen Collection consists of photographs taken by and of Louis E. Boyen at Nome in 1908.
There are two photographs of Louis E. Boyen with his partners. The other photographs in the
collection are of mining at Center Creek, a gold mine, a gold dredge at midnight, an Eskimo
hunting with a skin boat, and an Eskimo on the beach. The collection is arranged in number
order.
This collection was donated to the Anchorage Museum by Louis Boyen’s son, John L. Boyen, in
1971.
