Scope and Contents

The Harris collection consists of postcards of Alaskan places and peoples. Places
include Sitka, Wrangell, Ketchikan, Valdez, Juneau, and Skagway. The Sitka photos
include downtown Sitka, a Memorial Totem, St. Michael’s Cathedral, and Lover’s Lane.
Wrangell photographs include several totem pole postcards, Shake’s grave totems, a
Kicksetti totem and Sun House, Chief Shake’s Totem, and Kadashan totems. Ketchikan
photographs include Tlingit Totems, Haida totems, and Ketchikan and Tongass Narrows.
Other postcards in the collection include Keystone Canyon, Chilkoot Pass, Mt. McKinley
National Park, Taku Glacier, Muir Glacier, Mendenhall’s Glacier, Juneau, and Skagway
Scenes. The collection is arranged into the photo file collection by subjects. The
subjects are Alaska Railroad-Moose Pass to Portage (the Loop), Chilkoot Pass, Haines,
Houston, Ivory carving, Juneau, Ketchikan, Keystone Canyon, Mendenhall Glacier,
Mount McKinley, Muir Glacier, Petersburg, Sitka, Skagway, Smith, “Soapy”, Stikine
