Scope and Contents

The Herbert Brazil collection consists of photographs from 1915 to 1917. The
subjects covered in the collection include the first water system in Anchorage at the U&I
Lunch Room and bakery, the first Labor Day Parade in 1916, Esmerelda McDonald and
Patrick James McDonald, a refreshment booth at a ladies baseball game in Knik, Joe
Curten and builder of first residence on Government Hill, Ship Creek Valley, Third
Avenue in Anchorage, and Hulda and Faye Lawthrape. The collection is housed in the
