Administrative/Biographical History:
Michael Barron (1947-2016) owned and operated both Snowbird Photography and Maiden
Alaska Photography. He was raised on a homestead in the Big Lake area, and subsequently
homesteaded on the Tokositna River in what later became Denali National Park. He also
operated Barony Lodge on the west side of Cook Inlet.

Scope and Content Description:
The collection consists of examples of the commercial work of Michael Barron, including
negatives, prints, 35mm slides, medium format transparencies and publications. Images are in
color unless otherwise noted. Images include artistic nudes from Maiden Alaska as well as
scenic and wildlife shots from Snowbird Photography. For more information, see Detailed
Description of Collection.

Arrangement: Arranged by format and subject. Maiden Alaska images arranged by model.


CONDITIONS GOVERNING ACCESS AND USE


Restrictions on Access: The collection is open for research use. Images from Maiden Alaska
restricted to researchers aged 21 and over.

Physical Access: Original items in good condition.

Technical Access: No special equipment is needed to access the materials. A light box may be
used to view transparencies.

Conditions Governing Reproduction and Use:
The Anchorage Museum is the owner of the materials and makes available reproductions for
research, publication, and other uses. Written permission must be obtained from the
Anchorage Museum before any reproduction use. The Anchorage Museum does not
necessarily hold copyright to all of the materials in the collections. In some cases, permission
