Administrative/Biographical History:
Juliet Steinmetz was born in 1898. In the 1910 Federal Census, she was listed as stepdaughter
in the household of Adam E. Black and Mabel M. Black in Portland, Oregon. In the 1910s, Juliet
moved to Cordova, Alaska, where she might have worked in a cannery. She married Kenneth
Earl Frawley of Cordova on November 3, 1920. In 1940, Juliet Frawley was listed as living in
Anchorage. Kenneth died in 1953.

Scope and Content Description:
The collection consists of three photo albums and 19 loose images (.1-19). Album 1 measures
10 ½” x 13” and contains 355 black-and-white and tinted images (.20-374); Album 2 measures
10 ½” x 13” and contains 179 images (.375-553); Album 3 measures 5” x 8” and contains 91
images (.554-644). There is no discernible arrangement to the photographs. Most of the
images are snapshots of Frawley family and friends in Alaska and Oregon. There are some
commercially produced images, including studio portraits, small format panoramas, and tinted
landscapes. For more information, see Detailed Description of Collection.
