Administrative/Biographical History:
According to a short autobiographical note in the collection, Marie Yeaman came to Alaska in
May 1920 and was employed as a nurse at a hospital in Cordova. In June 1922, she resigned her
position in Cordova and returned to Seattle, Washington. According to the donor, Marie
married John Henry Stahl, who died June 18, 1964. Marie died November 27, 1989.

Scope and Content Description:
The collection consists of 19 black-and-white photographs, one tinted photograph, and four
pieces of ephemera created or collected by Marie Yeaman Stahl. Most of the photographs
depict scenes from Marie’s time in Cordova, while the ephemera pertain to Marie’s interest in
the paintings of Sydney Laurence. For more information, see Detailed Description of
Collection.
