The Hotchkiss Collection was collected by Ms. JoAnn Hotckiss’ parents. Her father worked on
or in Saint Ann’s Hospital in Juneau, Alaska.

The Hotchkiss Collection consists of 164 photographs and 23 negatives. Subjects in the
collection include early Skagway, the White Pass and Yukon Railroad, and Soapy Smith. Other
photographs include images of buildings and scenic views of Sitka, Ketchikan, Juneau,
Fairbanks, Prince Rupert, B.C. and Kennewick, Washington. Other images include construction
of the Hospital Building in Anchorage in 1951. The collection is arranged in number order in one
album.

This collection was purchased from Ms. JoAnn F. Hotchkiss of Spokane, Washington by the
Anchorage Museum in 1980.
