Scope and Contents
The Muller Collection consists of 71 photographs, as wells newspaper clippings,
and menus from the S.S. Alameda. The collection includes several photographs of
Anchorage ranging in date from 1910 to 1944, the Alaska Railroad, President Warren G.
Harding, Carl Benjamin Eielson, Matanuska Valley, Seward, and various people.
Individual subjects in the collection include the Anchorage Benevolent and Protective
Order of Elks, Carl Benjamin Eielson with Alaska’s first air mail at Fairbanks in 1924,
Eklutna, the Government Experimental Farm at Matanuska, the Cheechako movie, July
Fourth, 1932, the Thomas C. Price Law Office, Romig’s cabin, Moose Lodge, Judge
David Leopold, the Palmer Red Cross hospital headquarters, President Harding in the
New Empire, the Tent City of Anchorage, and the winter mail leaving Anchorage.
Photographers of the collection include Fentscher, Peter Pan Photo Co., Thomas Foto
Shop, George L. Johnson, and Sydney Laurence.
